Spectral Anomaly

Another poem, this one about the moon. Can be found on my Protagonize account too.

Oh, spectral anomaly,

Oh, moon so bright,

Where in thy heart,

Lies reflected light,

So sudden, so sleek-

Yet only half-hearted;

Your meaning is dumb,

No light to be parted.

Your surface: imperfections,

A gaudy facade,

Whether crescent or full-bloom,

Thy face is left scarred

From your trickster shell,

As you show us ice:

No warmth of a star,

You’re painted in white;

Like a jester of skies,

There you stand, visual player,

In dark or in day,

You flourish, no labour.

Oh, moon so bright,

Thou spectral anomaly,

You have many faults

Which are beautiful to see.
